The release Notes can be found here, the new features include:
- Based on Debian 13 “Trixie” but uses Linux kernel 6.14.8-2 as new stable default
- VM snapshots on thick-provisioned LVM storages
- HA rules for node and resource affinity
- Fabrics for the Software-Defined Networking stack
- Modernized mobile web interface
- Comprehensive upgrade guide from 8 to 9
- ZFS 2.3.3 with support for adding new devices to RAIDZ pools without downtime
- QEMU 10.0.2, LXC 6.0.4, Ceph Squid 19.2.3
- and much more…
Be aware: This is the first release of a new major version of Proxmox. We have not yet much experience in fixing / debugging V9.0 (although we are already running it in production there might be some hickups).
On the first glance we did not find showstoppers – but as this release is just a few hours old we might into bigger issues at a later time. The release is based on Debian 13 (which is in release candidate status right now – if applicable: check back with your CISO / CSO first!).
One thing we can for sure tell: The mobile UI is a big step forward!
If all goes well we will contact our customers within the next few weeks to plan updates.
